To keep your Shards of London jewellery at its elegant, beautiful best, please follow these simple care instructions.
Over time, all silver will naturally tarnish due to the presence of common chemicals in the air. You can help to prevent the process by taking care to avoid unnecessarily exposing your jewellery to harmful compounds:
- Remove your jewellery before showering, bathing,or coming into contact with chlorinated or salinated water.
- Keep your jewellery covered when using bleach.
- Try to avoid bringing your jewellery into direct contact with perfumes, moisturisers and cosmetics.
Extreme temperatures can also impact upon your jewellery, so try to avoid exposing it to high levels of humidity, and when not wearing it store it in a temperate environment away from direct sunlight.
With every Shards of London purchase you will be supplied with a specially made lint-free cloth designed to keep your jewellery looking as good as new. Each cloth is expressly created to care for either 18ct yellow and rose gold, or for silver, and should be all that you need to keep your jewellery sparkling.
To avoid scratching your Shards of London jewellery, please do not use tissue or any other type of paper to clean it.
You may use a dedicated cleaning substance on silver pieces to remove any signs of tarnishing, but prevention is better than cure, so if you are not using your jewellery store it in a dark, airtight bag kept at a moderate temperature.
When you are not wearing your Shards of London jewellery, store it in a soft pouch or lined box to prevent it from being scratched or getting tangled. If you can, keep it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Turquoise and emerald stones are porous, so should never be cleaned with harsh chemicals or hot water. A soft, dry, untreated cloth will deliver the best results.
To maintain their twinkle diamonds do need to be cleaned periodically. For best results use warm water and mild detergent with a soft brush, rinse thoroughly with clean water and leave to dry naturally. Do not use tissue to clean or dry diamonds, as this can cause scratches.
